A Bit About Me
Hello, my name is Sofie!
I'm a 30-something game designer with almost 7 years of game design behind me, 1.5 years in the industry, 5 years of studies at Gotland Game and Future Games. Being a victim of the resent industry layoff-boom I'm currently looking for new opportunities in Stockholm or remotely.

Even though I started off more on the graphics-side of game production I've since focused my work more towards narrative and level design of games. From 5 years of game studies, I've learnt that what I'm most passionate about is coming up with ideas for interesting worlds and stories to fit them. I love everything connected to world building, whether it's creating interesting stories for side quests or characters, environmental storytelling or the game writing and planning itself.
With that said, I do have some years of work experience outside of the game industry which has mainly taught me how to express and maintain a good work environment together with my collogues as well as quick problem solving.

Upper secondary school and first real work experience.
At Go Maddox I primarily worked on the level design and environment but I also took part in the general design and setup of every project. A also got to learn Roblox Studio.
Here I got to really evolve my level design skills while making various social HUBs and interactive lobbys as well as making arenas and building a bunch of race tracks for our racing game.
For half a year I have been doing level design and more general design at the Belgian studio Happy Volcano. I have mostly been working on the game You Suck at Parking but have also been part of the planning of their future project.
At Happy Volcano I have learned how to work together with people with different proficiencies and the important of all different skillsets at a studio. I have also gotten more used to Unity and tools like Confluence, Jira and more.
In autumn 2020 I applied for Future Games Design courses and got in. I believe this is where I've had my steepest learning curve so far and here we have worked on three bigger Game Projects together with Artists. Since we often did not have help from programmers during our projects I have learned basic programming and blueprints, especially UI setup.
Beside getting a deep dive into Unreal Engine, I have learned more about the different professions inside the game industry. This have lead to me focusing my work more towards the professions I think are the right ones for me.
2017 is the year I finally got into game production. I started the Bachelor's Program in Game Design and Graphics at Uppsala University. During my studies I worked on various smaller game related projects and four bigger game projects with the other minors.
From my years at Gotland Game I not only learned more about game design in general but also about the work programmers and project managers do and how to work agile in symbiosis with them as well as other artists.
Between 2015- 2016 I started studying at Uppsala University, one year each taking some courses at the Nurse Program and Environment Program.
In 2009 I started my education in Nature Science in Visby. During these years I worked extra as Breakfast host and cleaner at a hotel. I graduated in June 2012 with a minor in Environmental Science and by fall I started working with Home Care service.
During these years I got more resilient to stress and learn about good and bad management, how to work as a team, but also how to solve problems together.
